[the artist]![]() Bilan DeDonato is a 16 year old junior at Kent School and lives in Lakeville, CT. Her passions are science and art. She dabbles in a bit of everything when it comes to art but particularly loves to work with clay. Although she's primarily a 3-D artist, photorealist painter Yigal Ozeri really inspires her.
[notes]This piece was a product of my spring term Sculpture class. The topic was “Resurrection of Light/Life” with the stipulation that the color white had to be incorporated. Immediately I thought of a white flower and white lotus to symbolize life. I made around 20 flowers, each made up of between 6-8 individual pieces. I chose red string because it created contrast against the green background and the white flowers. To put these flowers on the tree, it was a lot less complicated than one would imagine; just me, the tree, a step ladder, the flowers and some string.
