[a letter from the editors]
Dear reader,
We're ecstatic to announce the publication of Issue 1! It's been the joint effort of our executive board, our hard-working editors, and our talented writers and artists. It's a little daunting to send this baby out into the world, but we're 100% sure that you'll love it as much as we do. Issue 1's diversity, we think, really represents the variety of boarding school. This issue's got a lot going on, from analytical pieces complete with charts to travel guides complete with Instagram photos. We have an interview with a famous author, a spirited (and delightfully sarcastic) op-ed on choosing your true path in life, an article on the perils of being away from school, and a one-of-a-kind fictional dialogue, not to mention the paintings, photos, and drawn-on guitars. Enjoy this little microcosm of boarding school. Love, The Board |

The Paradox of the Academic Boarding School by Luther "Luke" Setzer
"Whether your future actually needs the 'excellent' or will do quite nicely with the 'adequate' remains ultimately your own difficult call." The Price of Winning by Eva Araya "An Ivy League University does not equate success, nor does pulling your hair out as a teenager. You know what that does mean for you? A stomach ulcer." [prose]
