[notes]
I decorated my guitar using Sharpie markers, working for a total of 10 to 15 hours over the course of one week.
The Japanese wave was inspired by the The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai, and I incorperated some of my own decorative patterns into it. The dragon is a symbol of my mother country, China, done in a paper-cut-like style. The tree was really just added in for balance, although I like to think of the two birds as 'breaking free'. I drew the girl because I love drawing girls with long hair. Finally, the quote on the right side says, "Do what you love, fortune will follow." The phoenix is the companion of the dragon in China (like Yin and Yang). The decorative floral designs were inspired by the artwork of Julie Hill. |
